Today is a random personal post.

It is the last day of August! I’m not feeling overly productive today. It happens sometimes and I am OK with that. I will pay the price tomorrow when I have to work like a mad women to catch back up.
I was sitting in the reception/viewing room looking out the window contemplating where the year has gone. It has zipped by rather quickly. One day you are thinking that it is January and excited about what the year has in store. The next thing you know it is crazy busy and summer is coming to an end. The next few months will go by even more quickly as they always do. Fall gets us all spread out to thin…. working, trying to get out and enjoy the last bit of nice weather, Thanksgiving, Christmas planning and then bang it snows and we are starting a new year. So I guess I am going to enjoy my little bit of window gazing today because really it is just the calm before the storm.

However, I do have a shoot later and I will need to get productive very soon. It will be great!

David and Jun were married in Jasper at Pyramid Lake Resort on August 15th! It was a gorgeous weekend in the mountains. Perfect for a wedding, some r&r and a whole lot of fun.

Once again we will be hosting a charity event in support of the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society. Our 3rd Annual Dog and Cat Days of Autumn will be held here in our new studio on September 10 & 11. It is a great time to book your pet for a portrait and support a fantastic organization.
Sessions are by appointment and $25. The session fee will be collected and donated to SCARS. Bring in a bag of high quality pet food and you will receive a 5×7 print of your furry friend. This food donation will also be given to the charity. SCARS does not receive funding and relies on generous caring people for donations and support. They are a 100% volunteer organization. A couple of weeks back a few fellow photographers and myself got together for some playtime. We shared a model, Gee, and she was fabulous! We wondered around downtown Edmonton finding some fun locations. We experimented with studio lighting outside and different lens. It was a great experience and a fun time sharing knowledge and tips with friends in the industry. I look forward to doing it again!
It is great to have so many great photographers in the area to just take a night and have some fun. No stress of work….just fun!

Aleina and James will be married next weekend! We got together earlier this week to shoot the engagement session. Yup, it is cutting it close to the date but we will certainly have some prints ready in time for the wedding.
It was a nice evening…warm but not to warm. And just in time because the rest of this week has not been very nice. More rain to breed more skeeters….Haha. I think we had plenty on this shoot no more are needed.

So I am really on the blog posts this week. There are a couple of reasons for that. I have been really busy so when I want a break I do posts and next week is going to be even busier. So that means I am stocking up while I can. Because next week there will likely not be any posts!

Let talk about boudoir for a minute. I know….that is a sexy idea. Haha! I have been busy with boudoir as of late. I don’t have much I can show you on the blog as they are rather intimate and personal. But I thought I would share this one with you as it is not to revealing. I also wanted to post it because it is outside….yes you can go outside for such a session. If you dare.
Hmmmmm….but if you go outside can we still call it a boudoir? I think so. Or maybe I will have to come up with a special name for the outdoor sessions.

Laurel and Trevor tied the knot on July 30th in Jasper. The weather was beautiful!
It was a great time. I met some fantastic people and felt right at home.
Here is a little look at the couple from their portrait session and from their Trash the Dress session the day after. Yup, I said trash the dress. Ok………. It wasn’t really trashed. That just means we did some shots you wouldn’t do on your wedding day right before your reception.
I would also like to mention how much I loved Laurel’s dress! And her head piece! Gorgeous. The look was topped off nicely with some fantastic makeup!
Paul is one of the most talented make up artist I have met in awhile and I wanted to make sure to give him a shout out.

I got to meet Jack yesterday! And he is a cutie.
We photographed Jack in the comfort of his home on the deck. I don’t normally shoot in peoples homes but what the heck. I like variety.
The light was beautiful and it was warm. After a slow start to the session…feeding…changing…and all that goes with a new born session, he settled in for his shoot.
It was a pleasure!

A couple weeks back Gabriel was in the studio for a session with his Grandma. The portraits were to celebrate her up coming birthday! I can’t imagine a better gift. Truely something they will both charish for a life time.

I had a fun time photographing the Heron Family a couple weeks back. We shot at St Albert’s Botanical Gardens. It was my first time shooting there. I know that sounds funny since I have been shooting in St Albert for almost 8 yrs. I have always walked through the area or rode though on my bicycle. Thus, I really never paid to much attention to the gardens other than the fact I thought they were far to sunny for most of the day. And Sunny is not the best…..photographically speaking. Sunny is good for pretty much anything else. Haha.
We did find a nice shaded area though! As you can see it all turned out great!
