I have had lots of inquiries lately about destination weddings. Some from brides and some from clients just intrigued with the idea. The most common question asked to me is “Do people really pay you go with them?” And the answer is YES! Most people believe that the destination wedding is much more costly when it comes to taking a professional photographer with them. Really is works out to about the same as if they purchased a wedding package and got married right here in town. For the most part photographers wave a portion of their package fee in return for flight and accommodation. The price of a week at most all inclusive resorts is the same as the shooting fee for a full day wedding. So it really is that easy to take along a professional and have a beautiful album to remember the day. However, there are times of the year where the fee might not be fully waved. One does have to remember that they are taking someone away from their business for a week. When it is busy that can be hard to leave for a week. I would say that most professionals do have someone that can hold down the studio while they are gone. The key word there is professionals….Haha. Not just someone with a camera looking for a holiday.
Another bonus is that most of us can be easily talked into an extra session the day after on the beach in the water or a family session. So that is just an extra bonus for the bride and groom or one of their guests. Plus, what a great and unique location.
