Maternity Portraits / Edmonton Maternity Photographer

Maternity portraits have been very popular over the years. We probably owe that to the famous shots of Demi Moore.
No matter how much you want to bare the sessions are a great way to document a special time in your life. They are also a great way to remind many women that no matter how big they feel they are beautiful!
Here is a coupe shots from a session last month.
This is now an update to the original post.
Originally I ask the client about posting her images because I thought they were very beautiful and she was very obliging to me considering her pregnancy had been high risk. So I was going to keep the post generic and not write to much because it had the potential to be a sad story. But now I am going to tell the story and let you know why I love my job.
Baby Lucus came into the world on Father’s Day. He was very sick and only stayed with his family for a couple of hours. Long enough to meet his amazing parents and siblings and then to say good bye.
Most people tell me that I am living their dream. They are drawn in by the beauty of photography and for the most part I am too. I love to capture moments that my clients will cherish. Make them happy, cry, and feel amazing. However, not all jobs are happy moments. I have photographed pets and family members for clients that were terminal, brides dressed up in their dress months before their wedding so they can get that shot with their Grandmother they know they won’t get at the wedding. It is never easy to go into those situations to photograph. It is always unspoken about but you know why you are there. You can see the heartache in everyone’s eyes. These situations are rare and as sad as they make me feel reminds me that my job is more than just creating a “pretty picture”. It is very much about capturing a moment. Something that can be looked back on and remembered. Because when all is said and done photographs are what is left behind.
So capture your moments and look back on them often. Whether is it a professional portrait or just a snap shot from a vacation they are all important.
Enjoy,
Jill
